Defending Your Professional LicenseWhen a patient makes a complaint to the Michigan Department of Community Health about a dentist or other health care professional, the Bureau of Health Professions at the Department begins its review process. It may find the complaint to be groundless, in which case the complaint is dismissed and no disciplinary action occurs. However, if the facts indicate that the complaint has merit, the Bureau will begin an immediate investigation. Following an investigation, a formal licensing complaint may be initiated by the Attorney General. Our attorneys have a comprehensive understanding of the rules and procedures governing these investigations and the administrative hearing process. We recognize what the Bureau is looking for, and can potentially resolve the matter at an early stage by providing a clear explanation of the dentist's actions and decisions. If the matter proceeds further, we will be zealous advocates at dentist and physician patient complaint hearings, armed with the objective of minimizing any sanctions and protecting your medical or dental license.
